Perception Foundation Founders Internationally Recognized for Exceptional Nonprofit Leadership

The founders of The Perception Foundation, Maya and Lara Hammoud, have received prestigious international and national honors for their nonprofit work in neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs).


  • International Recognition: They were named as two of the Top 9 International Change Maker Youth by the Pace E. Bene Society, highlighting their global impact in advocacy and community service.


  • National Recognition: 

    • They received the Daily Points of Light Award from the Points of Light Foundation, established by President George W. Bush


    • The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award through the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA), signed by President Joe Biden.


These honors celebrate Maya and Lara’s dedication to neurodiversity advocacy, which began in elementary school when they met their best friend with autism. Their achievements showcase a lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and meaningful impact across local, national, and international communities.
