Young Women of the Year

Lara Hammoud and Maya Hammoud are incredibly honored to have been named Young Women of the Year of the Americas by Women Changing the World, an initiative created by the Duchess of York.

What began as a small act of care, building a sensory-friendly room for a friend with autism, has grown into The Perception Foundation, a global movement now reaching more than 500,000 people across 34+ countries.

This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the mission that has guided their work from the very beginning: creating a world where neurodivergent individuals feel seen, supported, and included. Along the way, they have had the privilege of working with passionate student leaders, educators, families, and advocates who continue to make this impact possible every day.

After being recognized in late 2025, Lara and Maya recently had the unforgettable opportunity to celebrate in Paris alongside inspiring changemakers from around the world. The experience served as a powerful reminder of what is possible when compassion is transformed into action.

As they look toward the future, Lara and Maya are excited to continue growing The Perception Foundation through advocacy, sensory inclusion, and youth-led impact initiatives around the world.

They are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported this journey and cannot wait to see what the future holds.
